In 2000 Linda Lou Heard was identified as having cancer and 2 yrs later she’d close her favorite nursery, and in her ultimate Heard’s State Garden Publication she wrote. “Though there are however additional gardens in my heat that have to be planted – the body is contacting for a rest. Saying good-bye could be the hardest point I experienced to do.”
For anyone of us who had the satisfaction of knowing Jane Lou Seen, this memorial garden tour supports a special place in our hearts. And for me, it’s especially substantial, because it had been at Heards State Gardens Room, where I discovered my love, butterfly Vertical Planter! Straight away upon participating a butterfly gardening type at the room, I was forever obsessed with butterflies.
I was so captivated by every aspect of the butterfly school, getting records and asking questions, that I could not wait to have home and begin “gardening for the benefit of butterflies” myself.
I particularly remembered waiting in range to buy a chrysalis from the instructor, Cathy, the “Butterfly Lady”, but to my dissatisfaction, by the full time I made my method to the leading of the point, Cathy was out of butterfly chrysalises.
She did however have several caterpillars, and upon showing her I was growing pesticide free fennel in my own garden , she offered me one of her Anise Swallowtail caterpillars. I ever so cautiously needed it home, given it, fretted around it, till eventually that wonderful time came when my Anise Swallowtail Butterfly surfaced from it’s chrysalis, I realized I was hooked.
